Vivienne was my high styling mother. Born in upper New York state, she danced through the 1940's, entertained the 1950's girls and married me off in the 1960's. The style Vivienne emulated always came from "the city." She would rather have one good piece of clothing than a closet full of lesser quality clothing. I have shopped the dark alleys of Paris, the outdoor markets of Beijing, through Russia with their treasured furs, and even through Italy with their alluring, spectacular lace.
